Solar In Australian Homes

In Australia, there are currently 2,319,784 running solar systems as reported by Solar Power Information and Statistics. Of these 2,319,784 systems, 278,096 were installed in 2019 alone.

According to the Clean Energy Council Australia, 24% of Australia’s electricity was generated by renewable resources in the past year, and to be considered a rising figure.

Residential solar is a popular choice in Australia, with over two million residences currently being powered by a solar system on their rooftop. Solar has become a household must since electricity prices have been rising at a staggering rate, and solar providing the stable electricity bill and opportunity to put money back in your pocket.

The amount of money you can save and make return on investment is determined by the size of your solar panel system, the type of solar system you have and the quality of the system. We already provide you with the best quality product on installation and solar panel size recommendation in your in-depth FREE solar system proposal, so let’s talk about the types of residential solar systems that Australia has to offer.

Systems to Consider

In Australia, we offer three types of residential solar power systems. That being Grid Inter-Tied Residential Power Systems, Off-Grid Inter-Tied Residential Solar Systems and Hybrid Inter-Tied Solar Systems.

Grid Inter-Tied Residential Power Systems

Grid Inter-Ted Residential Power Systems, commonly known as grid-connected systems, enable you to maintain your connection to the grid throughout the night and on overcast days. The Solar Inverter works with the grid power to ensure all solar power is used first, then if needed, is able to draw power from your grid. This also allows the opportunity to sell your excess power back to the grid, or save it for a cold winter.

Hybrid Inter-Tied Solar Systems

Hybrid Inter-Tied Solar Systems, or hybrid systems for short, are a grid-connected system that is inclusive of a solar battery. Solar batteries are used to store solar energy and reuse at a time when there is no solar available. Solar batteries provide a back-up power source and the ability to better utilize your solar system.

How Solar Saves You Money

Using a residential solar system allows for two effective ways of saving and making money.

Feed in Tariff

As solar is created by the sun and is not based off your energy consumption, sometimes there will be a surplus of electricity generated, and sometimes you will need more. As Australia is known for its sunny days, you are expected to generate a surplus of energy, with this surplus you can either store it for a rainy day, or even better, sell the energy generated back to the grid for a rate called “feed in tariff”.

Offsetting

Offsetting your energy consumption can reduce the amount of electricity you need to buy from your electricity provider. A grid-connected system will always prioritize your solar energy and use any remaining energy required, back from the grid.
